Committed to Making a Difference
LACCD is committed to making a difference. We are committed to integrating sustainable best practices and principles as identified in our charter across all our campuses and into our daily lives with the long-term goal of creating a carbon and waste neutral community. Our overall mission includes:
Developing a sustainable footprint
Our new construction program is designed to reduce water consumption and encourage each campus to produce carbon-neutral solar power.
Creating a learning experience
Our green buildings serve as a learning tool for students and the design community.
Fostering the ‘green collar’ worker
We have designed a state-certified sustainable development curriculum which will promote green-economy job creation and certification in partnership with 4-year colleges, public schools, unions and businesses.
Speaking out for green initiatives
Our facilities team routinely participates in conferences on sustainability.
